Jim Carrey wants people to realize that fame and fortune does not equate to happiness, no matter how much it may seem like it does. He wants people to understand that it is what you do in your own life that makes you happy and that no one else can make you happy and nothing material can accomplish that for someone. This quote overall discusses Jim Carrey's view on the triviality of money and how people glorify it to no end to the point where it is considered the pinnacle of happiness.

I think that he meant everyone should be able to feel how it feels to be rich and have everything that you want so that you can see it is not always a good thing. What is there to life if you are not aiming for something. If you just got what you wanted all the time, that is not so good and he is saying that he would wish that everyone could see that.

Jim Carrey is completely correct in his statement. There is only a certain amount of money that can truly make a person happier (an amount which satisfies basic needs such as food and shelter). Material things do not make people happy. What creates happiness is having meaningful relationships with others and experiencing what the world has to offer.

I think Jim Carrey, being a famous actor himself, means that he knows what it's like to have all the money and the materialistic things he wanted, but that it doesn't fulfill him. You can have everything you have ever wanted and still feel empty inside. You don't need everything you ever wanted to be happy.

Jim Carrey's quote is stating that if everyone basically had or got what they wanted. There really wouldn't be any sort of problems between the rich and the poor. The reason rich and poor basically "fight" is because the rich don't exactly have what they want or need. As for the rich they have all the finer things in life and what suits their wants and needs. But if everyone had what they wanted there really wouldn't be an issue.

I think he means that being rich and having a lot of material things is not what you need to be happy. People who do not have these things think that they will make them happy, but they are wrong. Jim Carrey wishes that everyone be rich and famous so they can all see what is really important in life. Tangible items are not the most important.

I think Jim Carey meant that most people want to be rich and famous, however, if they actually were rich and famous, then they would understand that it's not as it seems to be. Having money isn't always the best and being famous could make you have trouble too. Therefore, he is trying to tell us that being those things aren't the answer and most people, when they realize that, will not want to be rich and famous.

I think Jim Carey's quote means that when you want everything you are greedy. And once you get everything you want you will realize it can make you happy momentarily. But in the long run, all the possessions were not worth it. His quote means for people to think deeper than what they want instead, look at what they already have. Being content with what you have is true happiness because then you wont have to stress about getting the best thing out there.

Jim Carrey is saying that the things that matter in life are not always things. Life is so much more than being rich and famous and getting everything that you desire. What really matters in life is being surrounded by people who love you and care about you. Life is about doing things that make you and others happy. Life is about accomplishing goals and dreams and being content with your life. A lot of people who have a great deal of fame and fortune are miserable with their lives. There is so much to explore throughout our lives and unfortunately, some people do not do so.

If everyone was rich and famous, we would all know what it would be like to live a healthy and somewhat happy life, but we wouldn't know what it would be like to be poor or to struggle through hard times. Sometimes having everything that you want and need can be bad for you and not let you know what the real world is like and what other people have to go through. It can be better to have little, but for it to mean more to you personally. The things you need to live life are more important than just money and fame; some things that make you happy are not even tangible.

Jim Carrey looks at life an interesting way. What he meant by this quote is that people tend to see that the way to live is to be rich and famous and be able to have whatever they want whenever they want in order to feel accomplished. This is wrong. People can feel accomplished by the smallest things; such as, sitting in the living room watching tv with their families. Maybe even going to the beach with their loved one. Being rich and famous shouldn't be everyone's goal in life, to be happy should be.

I think Jim Carrey wants everyone to understand the valuable things in life. Riches may feel good at first, but will not carry a person far. The important things in life are family, love, and happiness. Jim Carrey is stating that if everyone had a chance to become rich in famous, they would take it. But in time, those same people would realize that the thing that matters the most are what is on the inside and what will make you feel content.

In Jim Carrey's quote he is trying to send a message. Because he is a famous actor he knows what it is like to have riches and power and he is trying to let the rest of the world know that having everything that you could ever wish for is not the answer. Personally, I believe he is trying to portray the message of "money is not the answer". Having riches and power will not make you truly happy, which is what a majority of people look for in their lives.

This quote is simple to interpret in a basic fashion. It is easy to say that the quote means that simply money isn't everything. But the real meaning is that having everything that you desire, which a lot of times means wealth and fame, will not instantly make you satisfied. Even the wealthiest and most prolific individuals of course are not satisfied. It boils down to people, and relationships with others. Even the poorest married couple can be happier than the richest, because they received what they really truly wanted.

I agree with this quote. People often think being rich and famous is everything, even though they are told it's not. Some people have such an obsession with this that they waste their whole lives just to get rich and famous. When they finally do, they realize that the life they have always dreamed of is simply not the answer. If they could experience the feeling of it not being an answer, they would learn to be happy where they are.

Addie Keefer said...

I think that he means that what everyone believes being rich and well known is like, isn't reality. He wants everyone to experience a wealthy lifestyle so that they can understand this. Also, he means that people think that a rich lifestyle would fix all of their problems. However, this is not the case and he hopes everyone could experience this first hand. People tend to think that money is the answer to everything, and if they were rich and famous, then they would have a perfect life. Jim Carrey uses this quote to show that it being rich and famous does not give you a perfect life.

Jim Carrey is not only an actor that I idolize, but a very smart man when he said, "I hope everybody can get rich and famous and will have everything they ever dreamed of, so they will know that it's not the answer." By saying this, Jim Carrey is trying to tell us that if we had everything we could ever wish for and more, it would make us realize that what we truly wanted is what we already had. People get greedy and lose sight of what is really important to us, such as family, love, and the values that makes us ourselves.

This quote by Jim Carey is saying that once you receive what you have been hoping and wishing for, you'll know if it was right for you to dream of it. Lots of people want to become successful people with their goals reached and living life exactly how they want. But that life isn't what everybody needs. If we were all rich and famous, would anyone really be rich and famous?

Here, Carrey is saying that wealth and fulfillment of shallower physical dreams will not always bring a sense of happiness or satisfaction. I interpreted this as highlighting the intangible sources of happiness one could achieve, such as love, family, and friends. These nonphysical things are what make a person happy, according to Carrey, and this can be found in the story "The Necklace", where a woman is forever unhappy and unsatisfied, even when her husband (who should be a source of her happiness) tries his hardest to make her happy. She doesn't realize that material goods aren't always going to make you happy, and that people, such as her husband, and love are what will really fulfill your life.

I think that Jim Carrey means in this quote that fame and fortune are not the answer to happiness and I agree with him. People think that when they are rich and have a lot of money and everyone knows it that they'll be happier. But they won't be. Carrey is saying that he's tired of everyone getting it wrong and he just wants everyone to get what they WANT, maybe not what they need, to prove to them that having those things won't make your life any better.

This quote means that getting everything you always wanted in life is not the only thing that leads to living a happy life. He wants people to see that there's more to life than having lots of money and everyone knowing your name. Having everything you've ever wanted isn't the gateway to eternal happiness. The most important things in life are not tangible. It seems he wants people to live more and not get caught up in materialistic things.

Haley Hand said...

I think he meant that the best things in life are not tangible. No matter how many things you have, it will never be enough to fulfill us. A fancy new car can't replace love and an expensive, big house can't replace a relationship with a loved one. You could have everything you've ever dreamed of and still not be satisfied because everything that matters in life cannot be replaced by those unneeded things. Unnecessary things can't be a substitute true happiness.

This quote means that you may think you know what your dreams and goals are for later on. Really, you don't always know right away what you want. You don't always need EVERYTHING to make your dreams and goals come true. Sometimes the dreams and goals you once had can change as you change.

This quote does not mean much to me because if you could have anything you ever dreamed of, you wouldn't want anything else, which would eliminate all of your greed. And since I'm sure most people want something that makes them happy, they wouldn't have much of a reason to be sad. Also, if every person was rich, nobody would really be rich because they would still have around the same amount of money as everyone else. If everyone had more money, prices would go up, and nobody would be rich anymore. To me, this quote is really nothing special at all.

Jim Carrey has been extremely successful in his life, so he knows what it feels like to be "rich and famous". He has experienced the physical wealth and he knows that this is not the key to happiness. He realizes true happiness comes from being with the people you enjoy, and being thankful for having the simple necessities to survive. Jim Carrey knows happiness does not come from money.

Jim Carrey's intentions of dispatching this quote were to possibly make more comprehensible the truth that enormous affluence and notoriety do not satiate the real desires of humanity. According to him, these hollow aspirations, when obtained, fail to yield the meaning or joy mankind seeks and uses these disillusioned dreams to guide them to that acquisition. He claims some other vessel distributes the real longings of human nature while a crazed society substitutes wealth and fame for these yearnings to make the idea of happiness or fulfillment a more tangible entity. Collectively, Carrey states the material provisions of life hold no true glee but are wrongly idolized as the sustenance for humanity's desires.

This quote simply means that money does not buy happiness. Money can buy things that make you happy but in the end happiness does not come from material items. Happiness comes from being around loved ones and living each day to it's fullest, not money and items.
