Hamlet's internal conflicts would be his conscience, whether or not he wants to believe the ghost because he doesn't know if the ghost is just playing him. His external conflicts would be him vs. the ghost. him vs. Claudius, also him vs. his mother.

external- Through out the course of the play the people around him are full of trickery and so he doesn't know who he should believe at first.

internal- Hamlet has emotional issues and he holds things off till the last moment possible. He likes to talk about doing things but he never carries them out.

External- Hamlet and his uncle don't get along because his uncle killed his father and took his place on the thrown.
Internal- Hamlet is going crazy because he has to kill his uncle but since he has waited so long he is second guessing himself.

An External conflict that Hamlet struggles with throughout the play is procrastinating and showing his emotions, acting strange towards others. He doesn't know exactly how to show his feelings, so he takes it out on everyone else. An internal conflict is he can not decide if the ghost is telling the truth and if his uncle is a murderer. In his mind he wants to believe what the ghost is telling him but in reality he wants to make sure it is true before he does something he regrets.

INTERNAL: what do i do? what will people think if i kill my uncle?

EXTERNAL: his (hamlets) fathers death, his mothers fast remarry, everyone thinking he is crazy

One Internal conflict is his plan he created towards his uncle to go mad and kill him, for the fault of killing his father, this puts great stress on him being the only one who knows and having your uncle every day being alive and in his fathers position. One external conflict is that he has everyone on him to see if he is really crazy, meaning his two friends and having to be crazy and mean toward Opheilia.

Internal: He keeps procrastinating and doesn't wanna do it.
Externbal: Polonious doesn't believe hes going crazy at first and is trying to figure out what is going on.

One of Hamlet's external conflicts is very obvious, his father's death/murder and his mother's new marriage to his fathers brother, aka his father's killer. This is the base of his conflicts and its what his internal conflicts are based around. An internal conflict of Hamlet is that he is struggling to find the courage in him to revenge his father's death. It is putting a very big burden on him and he has to do this pretty much all on his own.

External conflicts that Hamlet has are his uncle because he discovers that his uncle kills his father by poisoning him. Another one in a way would be his mother because she got over his father's death faster than hamlet did and she told hamlet to get over his father's death and it was had only been two months since his father died. Internal conflicts are at one time he feels like every one has turn on him and is against him and not supporting him. He is also angry at his uncle and mother in a way for telling him to get over his father's death. He was also angry for a couple of other reasons to.. Also seeing the ghost he couldn't really tell anyone else about the ghost.

An internal conflict that Hamlet has, is the conflict of the mourning of his father and the revenge he has to deal with. However, the external conflict is not being able to trust anyone, neither family nor friends.

His external conflict is being sarcastic to polonius. His internal conflict is deciding to kill claudius.

Hamlet is being impacted by his thoughts (Internal) and the people and forces around him (External) in several ways but he is being most prominently effected by himself and his thoughts and decisions on what he should do like his procrastination which i believe will bring about his demise. And externally the people around him are just leading him down the path to complete insanity.

External: To believe the ghost and terminate King Claudius, or not to.

Internal: He's always afraid of doing things.

External - Dealing with claudius and polonius.

Internal - his inability to make a permanent decision, and to over think things.

Hamlet's internal conflicts-Hamlet is at war with himself constantly about what to do. For the most part, Hamlet constantly battles his own conscience, deciding what to do with his Uncle.

Hamlet's external conflicts-Examples of external conflicts would be; Hamlet vs. Cladius, Hamlet vs. Polonius. Hamlet vs. Cladius is the biggest conflict because Hamlet has to decide whether or not to get revenge on his own uncle for killing his father and taking his place on the throne.

Hamlet's internal conflict is between himself and his conscience: whether he wants to kill Claudius or not. Hamlet's external conflict is between himself and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern: He is trying to keep them from spying on him and fighting with them about it.

Danielle Baran said...

Internal- Hamlet's conscience keeps him from being able to follow through with his plans. He does a lot of thinking but not a lot of doing.

External- Throughout the play Hamlet is constantly being surrounded by lies and he is not sure who he can trust.

Internally, Hamlet is dealing with reluctance and anger regarding his father's death. Externally, he is dealing with is all of the spies that are sent to watch him and get information from him.

Hamlets external conflict would be with him and trusting people. There are many people in the play that are deceitful, so it is hard for Hamlet to know who to trust. Some people are pretending to be his friends, Ophelia pretended to accept his love, and Polonius is spying on him at every turn.

Hamlets internal conflict is between him and his conscious deciding what to do and what to believe. He his conscious is having trouble deciding if the ghost is real or imaginary and whether or not it is telling the truth. He also has to figure out whether or not to take revenge on Claudius and he's battling with his conscious to decide which action is best to take.

Megan Soucy said...

Hamlet's internal conflict is that his conscious holds him back, every time he is about to kill Claudius there is something in his conscious that tells him not to. Hamlets external conflict is trying to deal with his fathers death and seeing the ghost. He doesn't know if the ghost is telling the truth because all of the people around him are filled with trickery and lies.

One of Hamlet's internal conflicts would be his constant struggle on whether or not/ how he should kill Cornelius.
One of Hamlet's external conflicts would be that he does not know who he can trust, such as conflicts with the ghost, cornelius, his mother etc.

Hamlet's external conflict is trying to deal with his fathers death, appearance of the ghost, and when the ghost tells him to take revenge. Hamlet's internal conflict is deciding when or even if he wants to take revenge on Claudius. Hamlet doesn't know if the ghost is actually his father and if he wants to believe him when he says that Claudius killed him. He is also considering taking his own life and that is a big internal conflict hamlet is faced with.

Ken said...

Internal - Hamlets' conscience does not allow him to kill Claudius, he thinks about it more than anything.

External - There are a lot of external conflicts with Hamlet, one of them being him versus his fathers ghost.

Carly Davis said...

An external conflict that Hamlet shows is his emotions over his father's death and being confused with his emotions and his mother's marriage. This also deals with people believing that he is crazy and also deals with his conflict with the ghost. Some internal conflicts deal with his external conflicts, like his father's death, because he internally is still emotional inside and feels that people are not supporting him or are maybe turning against him because they want him to get over his father's death faster than he can. Another internal conflict would be dealing with his 'revenge'.

Throughout the play Hamlet is affected by himself internally through his constant questioning and over thinking. Hamlet struggles with himself as he tries to decide what to do and constantly procrastinates his actions because of this. he is constantly at war with himself which is ultimately his downfall. Hamlet himself is not the only force, however, that affects him. Hamlet is also impacted by several external conflicts. One of those external conflicts is the ghost that begs him to get revenge. Hamlet wants to listen but is constantly wondering what exactly he should do causing his internal problems such as over thinking to occur. His internal and external problems are connected and one causes the other.

Hamlet is faced with many conflicts because of the choices that he makes. Externally he is feeling deceived, he does not know who he can trust. He is not sure who he can share his true emotions with and who he has to be careful with. Internally Hamlet has a major conscious and emotional problem. He cannot commit to anything, he is constantly getting angry with himself for not being able to follow through with killing the King. His conscious will not allow him to kill Claudias. This makes him angry, depressed and distressed.

One external conflict would be between the king and Hamlet's relationship. Both men have a disconnected relationship due to the kings actions to take the throne and marrying Hamlets mother. An internal conflict for Hamlet would be his conscience. Hamlet struggles with if he wants to follow through with killing the king along with whether if he wants to believe what the ghost says.

Hamlets external conflicts would be between him and Claudius as well as the ghost and Polonius. Hamlets' internal conflicts stem from his consience

Hamlets Internal conflict would be him deciding to kill Claudius to revenge his fathers death.
Hamlets external conflict would be actually killing King Claudius

Hamlets internal conflicts in my opinion are his issues with his conscience and always feeling like her is in a constant battle with himself. His external conflicts are all the conflicts he has in the real world so with the ghost, his mom, laertes, the king and everybody else.

throughout the play Hamlet has an external conflict with Claudius. He shows his distaste and plans to kill him although has difficulty seize the moment to get his revenge. His internal conflict is that he is seeing and realizing that all those around him are betraying him. The ones he once loved, close friends, his mother, and Ophelia. He consistently turns this feeling of betrayal over and over again in his mind.
